Class of 2024

Varsha is a senior from Palatine, IL, and is studying MMSS and Stats. Varsha has been dancing since she was 6 and has a background in mainly Bollywood and a little bit of Kathak. When she’s not dancing, Varsha can be found reading, trying new recipes, or making impromptu coffee runs to Evanston. No matter what the weather is like, she insists on wearing flip-flops.

Sajel is a junior studying Asian American Studies and Biology at Northwestern. She has been doing Bollywood her entire life and has experience in Kathak, jazz, poms, and hip-hop. When she is free, Sajel loves to walk around neighborhoods in Chicago, listen to music, finding new spots to eat, and complete puzzles.

Likhita is a junior in WCAS studying Neuroscience. Her passion for dancing stems from after-school childhood dance battles with her sister. Although she is not classically trained, Likhita has explored different genres of dance from learning hip hop choreographies from Youtube to being a former member of her high school’s Bollyfusion dance team. She loves Deeva for the friends she has made and awesome dance styles she’s explored. When she’s not dancing, Likhita can be found binge watching romantic comedies, making yummy food, or listening to random playlists on Spotify.

Niya is a junior in WCAS studying cognitive science. Though Niya hasn’t danced competitively or taken classes, you can always find her grooving to any good beat in front of her mirror or around her room. She's excited to learn all the different Bollywood and classical dance styles that we get to perform in Deeva but especially inspired by hip hop because she grew up watching some of her favorite dancers’ covers and choreographies. When she's not dancing, you can find her experimenting with different art media, composing music, or practicing taekwondo!

Nandini is from Mumbai, India and is studying Psychology, Economics and Sociology. She started her Kathak training at the age of 5 and is looking to get her dance diploma soon. In her free time she is either crocheting, learning a new language or eating Goldfish. She looks forward to strengthening her relationship with dance through Deeva!

Shreya Wojno is a sophomore studying Learning and Organizational Change with a minor in Entrepreneurship. She started dancing at the age of 3, joining both hip-hop and Bollywood teams. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts and music festivals, going out with friends, and watching Ratatouille.

Meera is a sophomore from Bergen County, NJ studying Communications and Data Science. She has been dancing since she was 5 and started an Assistant Teacher position when she was 15. She is specifically experienced in Kathak but loves Bollywood and learning new styles. She brings a Strawberry Açaí Lemonade refresher to every practice and in her free time, she loves to paint, drive around, and hang out with friends.

Bhavi is a sophomore from Naperville, IL, studying biomedical engineering and computer science. Bhavi has experience in Bharatnatyam and Bollywood and loves learning other dance styles through Deeva and TikTok. Her latest endeavor is to successfully do the worm. Aside from dance, you can find Bhavi playing badminton, eating, or sleeping in class.

Meena is a junior studying Learning Sciences, Political Science, and Data Science. She grew up doing Bollywood and Hip Hop and is looking forward to expanding her dance repertoire with deeva! During her free time, you can find her in the gym, cooking (but mostly eating), passionately listening to music, or napping in all the wrong places.

Becca is a junior from Austin TX, studying Data Science, Statistics, and Spanish. She grew up training in Latin dance and has experience in jazz & hip hop. When she’s not dancing or avoiding her assignments, you can find her at coffee shops, reading, making chicken noodle soup, and/or rewatching a comfort show!!

Siddhika is a junior from Kolkata, India, studying Industrial Engineering and Data Science. She is classically trained in Kathak but loves learning other dance forms as part of Deeva. When she's not dancing or studying you can find her baking, reading, or doodling in calligraphy!

Sophia is a junior from the Philippines studying Mechanical Engineering and Economics. She grew up in Singapore, where she trained as a varsity gymnast for 8 years. Through Deeva, she is learning to transfer her skills from gymnastics to explore South Asian dance and culture. In her free time, Sophia loves play pool, eat rice, and blast music till she goes deaf.

Katia is a sophomore from Hong Kong studying Political Science with a minor in Data Science. She has been dancing in open classes since she was 14 but has always enjoyed learning choreography in musical theatre productions. She loves getting educated in Bollywood/other styles by the Deeva girls. Outside of dance, she likes to get involved with theatre and the HK Students Association on campus.

Reyna is a senior from Arizona studying Neuroscience and Art History. She grew up doing Bollywood dance but is excited to learn new styles through Deeva! In her free time, you can find her painting, exploring Chicago eats, watching Friends reruns, and trying (but mostly failing) every IM sport with her friends!

Taera is a sophomore from Mumbai, India studying Psychology and Data Science. She has been dancing since she was 5 and has trained in a number of styles including ballet, latin dances, hip hop, and jazz funk. She is excited to learn new styles, especially Bollywood, through Deeva. When she’s not dancing you can find her painting, sketching, or watching silly reality TV shows at 3am.

Ananya is a freshman from San Jose, CA studying Economics and Computer Science. She's been doing Bollywood since she was 5 years old but loves all styles of dance! When she's not dancing, you can find her spending time with friends, watching the latest Netflix reality tv show, or eating a sweet treat.

Sanjana is a freshman from Plymouth, MN studying Neuroscience at Northwestern. She started her Kuchipudi training when she was 8, and participated in Bollywood Fusion styles throughout high school. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, watching Harry Potter movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Diya is a freshman from Mumbai, India studying biology at northwestern. She has been doing Odissi since she was 4 but loves learning new dance styles too. In her free time she loves watching the Big Bang Theory, going out with friends, playing the drums, and going on drives.

Gauri is a freshman from Barrington, IL and is studying Economics and Statistics. She has been dancing all her life and has a background in Bollywood, hip-hop and has her diploma in Kathak. In her free time, Gauri likes to read, find new restaurants to eat at, and sing!

Sahaana is a junior from Moraga, California studying Industrial Engineering and Theatre. She’s been dancing since age 2 and has a background in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, Latin and bhangra. Outside of dancing and school work, Sahaana loves to spend time with her friends and family, read thrillers, watch Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani on repeat, and travel the world.
